It's like- with Ouma and Gonta as an example, a lot of American yaoi fans won't accept Gonta as an uke because he is "manlier" looking than Ouma. So I don't really get along with them.

I live in the US, in Texas. I'm actually lucky enough to live in a big city. The yaoi events are definitely unique to Japan, at least the variety of works is. I think the culture around yaoi and BL in the US is very repressive.

I hope so too.. Miwa, your words heal me. You're kinder to me than my own family, haha 🥹❤️

there used to be a big culture around fan-comics and fanworks in the 1970s-1980s here in the US. but i think a lot of that has just faded away.

its hard to explain... there are definitely otaku culture events and I've sold some fan made goods before, but things like doujinshi/fan-comics are almost unheard of at anime conventions here. I might need to go to somewhere like New York or Los Angeles to sell anything in-person.

A side of Ougoku I like a lot is one where Gonta's existential despair is explored more. It's possibly my favorite part of chapter 4 and a fascinating aspect of Gonta as a character
