I feel you. On the bright side, they export also language and tools for resistance...
But good luck to you and to us all.

Are you not reassured?? There's a concept of a plan !

C'est long ?

The lack of successful thriving role model with a good work / life balance is what made me leave academia.

French CNN on the 22nd Jan 1793 : "Mob violently attacks poor king with wife and 4 kids". The way we talk about the news is political. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to be humanized. But the space we give to the different facets of this story is a choice.

And also, I'm really sorry, because I always write to complain, and everytime, I regret I didn't write all of the appreciation I have for the show, and how fun and insightful it is. Please keep up the great work, I'm just a sensitive scientist :-p

I understand, and it's a fun topic. It felt like listening to 2h of UFO sighting with a tacit endorsement from the show, though. It felt in sharp contrast with my perception of the show and all of your hard work to provide nuanced, researched, and mindful dissection of language.

I really wish there was a skeptical voice included in the episotes. I understand humans really want their pets to talk, but I thought the humans seemed to be doing the heavy lifting of putting meaning behind button pushing. Despite really liking your podcast, I feel pretty disappointed by these...

And by anyone else, you mean white people of course.

In my city, bike lanes achieve very little to prevent cars from parking on them 🤷🏽

I think it is highly dependent on the scale and the situation. What I'm saying is that it's a political choice for city and climate, and that the effect can be hard to predict au a very local scale.

That being said, I do think it's a good political choice to make car traffic more painful to favor the conversion to cyclists. The CO2 emissions differences between a car commute versus a bike commute are drastic!!
December 3, 2024 at 6:41 AM
It seems folks in this thread are ignoring that tearing up a bike lane means adding another car lane. The result on overall traffic is highly dependent on how much use the bike lane has. On my way to work, a lane has been transformed into a bus / bike lane, and car congestion has increased.

Becky Chambers' writing is wonderfully wholesome with both an engagement in difficult topics but with a positive and hopeful outlook. It's such a balm.
