I went to a monitor tour last weekend to retrace the gold mining trail to bring gold ore to Hiraizumi to decorate the temples. Hiraizumi was a stronghold of the Fujiwara clan about 800 years ago. We walked on the same trail, it was amazing, we panned for gold and had 3 hunters for protection.
