I had a brief look but it seems like a bunch of the hops don’t respond to ICMP packets- I’ll take a more concerted look at the weekend

Yeah lol - exactly them. The worst bit was that it was working fine for ages - and when it does work they are very generously delegating a /48. But now my internet is borderline unusable it if I have v6 enabled 😬

I nearly went with “It smells like dust and moonlight” but was too worried everyone would think I was insane

It means so much to hear this ! In an era where social media can be so depressing, it’s amazing that it’s still bringing people together in a positive way ❤️

I'll be sticking around and helping out for as long as the team needs me, and of course, you'll still find me nattering on Bluesky here and there.

In the great words of Don Hertzfeldt: "It's kind of a really nice day."

When I thought about who would be right to take over, Kev was the first to come to mind. They've been involved since the first few and the value of their contributions is ineffable. If any dog can maximise the good that furrylist can bring to the community, then it is almost certainly Kev.

I've become busier in my home and work life, and had so little time for social media - leaving me unable to give furrylist the attention it deserves. I considered shutting furrylist down, but, I realised that this wouldn't only be letting my own work go to waste, but the effort of others too.

Of course, there were plenty of challenges - technical and social. I've certainly learnt a lot about the spectrum of moral and ethical viewpoints held within the furry community. I hope many appreciate that when it comes to community moderation, there is often no clear right or good answer.

At that point, I reached out to the community for help and met so many great furs who made furrylist what it is today. Together, we built something used by tens thousands of furs around the world and brought the furry community together here. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Finally, on the 26th of May, the Bluesky team shipped feed support in the app. At that time, I was on a plane - without signal - and I came back to a lot of messages and an explosion of activity in my metrics 😅 The next few weeks and months are a bit of a blur!

Within those first few months, there was discussions of a new feature soon to arrive: "feeds". There was not yet any public documentation or support in the clients for them, but, on the 11th of May 2023, gleaning what information I could from the Bluesky repo, I set to work building furrylist.

It's been a journey for sure. I joined Bluesky on the 27th of April 2023, seeking to escape the rather depressing affair that Twitter had become, and found a much more welcoming and friendly place. I was enthused and excited by what ATProto could mean for social media.

ent and sqlc are both pretty goated - but gorm really just makes me shudder. It’s conceptually awful and for the most part so is its implementation.
