The whole ruse that the US government has no leverage to get Abrego Garcia out of CECOT is transparently stupid. Step 1 is to ask. If that doesn’t work—and why wouldn’t it?—Step 2 is to threaten to defund the prison. This administration’s major skill is defunding shit and threatening to defund shit.
