Just making it in time for #invertefest - I spotted this in my garden just a short while ago. Bombylius major - stor humleflue in Danish, Greater bee fly in English. (As far as I know, the Latin name ought to be in italics - regretfully I can't figure out how to do italics on my phone.)

I am now going to start sorting through my finds from the past three fossil hunts at the beach. Not sure just exactly what I have, but there are some real goodies in here. Also, I will have to start learning the English names for some of the things (oh no!/s). #microfossil #fossils #beachfind

Spent almost an hour on the beach, looking for microfossils. Small jar is mixed fossils, larger jar is handfuls of unsorted sand/gravel for sorting at home. Lego minifig is my go-to unit for size scaling. #microfossil #fossilhunting #legominifig
