Concluding my 2 year 8 month sorry-for-abandoning-you tour (Bea was VERY specific about my time away) with some classic blathers torture
Animal crossing new horizons. A human player character is donating an evening cicada to the museum curator, Blathers the owl, who has a substantial fear of bugs, but begrudgingly accepts them for the museum’s bug collection. He optionally describes the donation and in the case of bugs it’s always a damning description. In this case the text reads “as the sun sets, it strikes up a sad song so sonorous, one can’t hear one’s own thoughts!” There is a look of sheer panic in his eyes.

Entering my “postdoc losing grip of sanity and balancing the centrifuge in unhinged ways” era
A microcentrifuge with three small tubes balanced against each other in thirds. Reader, a more stable scientist would balance directly opposite each tube. However, the centrifuge doesn’t actually care about the placement as long as the weight counter balances, and at this stage of my life neither do I. I had three tubes. I didn’t want to make a fourth.

Obviously there are much bigger issues, and this is a meaningless gesture in the end, but it made me feel better and took like 30 sec to report the wrong name of the Gulf of Mexico. Will they change it back? No. But did it release a couple dopamine molecules in my brain? Yes
