#Hopepit Art Share! A Solarpunk Family. Credit Kel Carter.
Bao Li has three genetic parents. She's gene-spliced to balance out the health effects of sloppy genetic experiments done on her grandparents by a megacorporation, before the world FINALLY gave up on capitalism and focused on community.

#Hopepit Art Share 3: Solarpunk Schematics!
These are some little infographs that will go in the back of the book as part of a dictionary of tech and terms. I'm hoping they'll help kids get the ideas in accessible ways! The art on these is my own.

7) Monk And Robot
A modern classic, and a distillation of all things solarpunk. When you need a walk in a better world, read this.

6) Doughnut Economics by Kate Raworth
The storytellers tell us where we want to go. This clever economist tells us the nuts and bolts of howe we get there.

2) 2100: A Dystopian Utopia by StudioTeka

A series of city-planning treatises written by architects and city planners, this book tackles climate change with smart, resolved egalitarian good sense. A great read for future prediction that isn't dystopian or blindly starry-eyed.

For #Hopepit, I'm going to share seven of my favorite solarpunk works in the world

1) The Great Transition, by Nick Fuller Googins

A boots-on-the-ground, hands-in-the-soil exploration of what it takes to turn things around. This is the book that refutes the 'solarpunk is just daydreams' complaint.

Now I'm writing the first book in a pure solarpunk series, showing what it's like for the kids growing up after the original series in a healing country. Here's the cover for New Deal Book 1: Make The Deal, a #solarpunk story releasing next July!

As for yesterday's #hopepit theme: I'm a horticulturist and hope-fueled creature who got so sick of hearing 'we're screwed' in 2016 that I wrote a VERY BAD version of America's future, and then showed readers how we get out of it into a solarpunk world. That's the Aces High, Jokers Wild series.

You know, I'm researching the Regency as I prepare to write my Luddite retelling...I got to say folks, I'm seeing some really unpleasant reflections of current American events. A cruel peacock in power and a society treated like a casino. Too many of us landing on zero.
*shudder*
