I'm a retired teacher enjoying my free time. Karate is my life. I live in a commuter town near Sapporo, Japan.
Merry Christmas!
It's 9:30 AM on December 25th here in Japan-yes, it's Christmas!

Snow, snow, and more snow! It’s December now, when snowfall is relatively scarce, but in January, it snows a lot. I need to be ready for heavy snow then.

These are photos of the snow in my town. It has snowed 4.9 feet (149 cm), but the accumulation is only 1.1 feet (33 cm) so far this winter, which means most of the snow has melted.

My friend Hero took me for a drive. We enjoyed the frozen winter in the mountains.

Two routers fell down. This was the only damage I had in the earthquake.

A tsunami warning has been issued, but I live far from the sea, so it’s not a problem for me.
December 8, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Wow, what a huge earthquake that was!

Please take a look at this tree. There is a bunny on the trunk. Haha!

They are putting up lights on the trees and fountains so that we can enjoy the nights during winter.

On the way to the grocery store, there was a traffic accident. Nobody was hurt. This type of tiny car is sometimes called a "toy car" by Americans living in Japan. It looked as if it were sleeping on the road.

These antlers are sold at a souvenir store. The large one costs 22 US dollars, and the small ones cost 19 US dollars. Are they used for decoration or something else? A few hundred years ago, they were used as medicine, but what about nowadays? Are they just for decoration?

I came across an experimental self-driving electric car and asked the man in charge if I could ride in it. It was the first self-driving car I had ever ridden in. Since there was no steering wheel in front, it felt very strange—hahaha!

It snowed 2.5 ft in one day in my town. I don't like winter.🥲

This is also a store where customers can buy flowers directly from the roadside in front of it. I'm very happy that stores like this still exist in Japan.

When I was a little kid, most stores were like this: customers didn’t go inside but bought things directly from the roadside in front of the shops. I yearn for those old days.

I was on an internet radio show. The person on the left was the MC. I had a very good show with him.

I saw a warning that said "Beware of crows," but the crow in the illustration is too cute to be threatening.🥰

How red and beautiful this plant is! But its name is White Enkianthus. Even though it's red, its name is 'white'—haha!
