Gender identity isn't really a thing and is just transphobic pseudoscience. Gender dysphoria is a transvestism symptom, nothing to do with transsexuals.

There's nothing about ff7 or mgs that's jarringly political as opposed to the rest of the game. Very different.

They're shifting diagnostic criteria to match pseudoscience surrounding extreme forms of transvestism such as autogynephilia and GID. Actual transsexualism has been removed.

It's not disingenuous. One is very amatuer shoehorning agendas into a game it doesn't fit, the other is proper political theming for a game. Don't be intellectually dishonest.

Games like papers please or Orwell are highly focused on political themes, yet aren't agenda pushing or injecting politics arbitrarily.

Has nothing to do with *what* the themes are, has to do with how it's done.

Can't speak in yakuza since I haven't played it. But ff7 and mgs are games with overarching political themes that are known when you buy the game. Not devs injecting their political agendas randomly and in a jarring way.

There's a difference between having political themes, and injecting an agenda.

There's some that do, or address political themes, but I really haven't seen blatant propaganda coming out of Japan.
