They already are. Foreign governments. China controls tiktok and Russia seems to run twitter for all intents and purposes.

I think we need some legislation around these platforms. Twitter, tiktok, Facebook, etal are very very dangerous in the wrong hands. And the populous just isn't smart or educated enough to spot this stuff.
