Apple stores which devices/users install which apps. They have the device IDs. US government could obtain a list of people who installed the app if a court authorized it. Not clear what they mean by having to storing device IDs. Those IDs aren't accessible to Android apps.
Sorry, there will not be an Android version because there is no way to provide 100% anonymity. Each person's device ID would have to be stored and that information becomes discoverable should the government issue a subpoena.

Only iOS made this possible and completely protects the users.

One of our two senior developers has been forcibly detained and conscripted to participate in a war. When they first went missing, we revoked their repository access as a precaution. We soon learned their disappearance was completely unrelated to GrapheneOS. Our priority has been keeping them safe.

Did you know, GrapheneOS will have an opt-in built-in network location feature in the near future.

We have an experimental implementation which we're testing already. It will not be enabled by default for privacy reasons.

It will have support for choosing between multiple services.

Our latest release provides another enhancement for our protection against firmware-based attacks on devices by forensics companies.

This replaces emergency reboots triggered by overheating with regular reboots. We're going to be doing more similar work.

We've recently reported firmware vulnerabilities that are being exploited by forensic companies to obtain data from devices that are not at rest. If device is at rest, it isn't relevant and data is safe. Our auto-reboot feature is there to get devices back at rest automatically.

Initial Android Auto support is here! Our community has already helped us with testing and a lot of additional fixes have been merged, with a new release with the appropriate fixes coming very soon! If GrapheneOS not supporting Android Auto was the reason for not giving it a shot, now's the time!
