2. Bundesliga and football kits
Just found this picture of Bayer Leverkusen’s basketball team wearing an adidas Ipswich template

Haven’t been able to watch any Bundesliga this weekend so as far as I’m concerned the biggest talking point of the weekend is Kristijan Jakic’s haircut

Random Bundesliga player I just remembered about: Tasos Donis. That 4-1 vs Bayern…

Recently bought a bunch of issues of Elfmeter, a late 80’s/early 90’s fanzine dedicated to German football in English. Some really good stuff in there

I love when players tell their keeper which way to dive and are just completely wrong

Still waiting for the official live stream of Schalke-Bochum to start...

Leverkusen third - Missed this one. Leverkusen like a blue change kit and often have a really nice blue. The cross pattern isn't amazing but does combine two shades of blue well. Only thing I would change is the implementation of an almost entirely turquoise badge. 8/10

Nürnberg away - The problem with paying homage to a kit from 2007 is that some of the trends from the 00s were a bit silly, like asymmetric football kit designs. A fairly standard white kit but one of the sleeves is grey, though it's barely noticeable in action. 5/10

Gladbach third - The idea of using Gladbach's diamonds to create an all-over pattern could be great. Creating a map of the city it a b it underwhelming - it's nicer than most map kits, but I think it's quite hard for anyone to really recognise this map. It looks like a generic abstract pattern. 6/10

Köln third - Another black & gold kit, this one rivals Augsburg's very similar effort with a complicated pattern paying homage to the city. The Effzeh logo looks nice in a single colour and I like the collar too; this is one of the better black & golds. Shame about the Rewe smiley. 8/10

Union Berlin away - Really like the idea here, it's not been executed perfectly but still ends up in a pretty nice kit. The shirt looks more black than dark green from the front which does undermine the idea of a forest inspired shirt, but the gold does work and the shorts & socks look good. 7/10

Frankfurt third - Not feeling this one. The darker gray digital camo effect just looks messy here, and there's a limit to how exciting a kit in two-tone grey can really be. Would've preferred it without the pattern, even if it would be a bit boring. 3/10

Hoffenheim away - Another pretty plain design for Hoffenheim in the same template as the other two kits. This is probably the best looking of the three; certainly the most eye catching with the bright turquoise and a more visible pattern on the front. 7/10

Schweinfurt home - Introduced last year as a 120th anniversary shirt, we know now that this is being used as a home shirt this season. The anniversary badge isn't great but otherwise it's a smart design with a good collar, one of the better Capelli efforts. 7/10

Stuttgart third - Feels like they're stuck between two ideas that could be amazing, but shouldn't go together. Like on the away I think the horizontal stripe takes away from the pattern. Stuttgart have also had enough all-black kits now that black and gold doesn't have the same impact it could. 6/10

Other than Marvin Ducksch/Mitchell Weiser v Hamburg, is there any other examples of a free kick goal being ruled out because there was an attacker too close to the wall? The rule is still in effect, but I've not seen it applied since

Ingolstadt third - Missed this one; it's another solid design from Errea. Off white and dark red is a good combination. Will look a bit worse now that FCI have secured an actual sponsor unfortunately. 7/10

Dortmund home - One of Puma's better recent BVB kits - helped by the black sponsor, I think. It's both quite loud and also quite plain, since there's nothing else to it below the distorted black print on the shoulders & sleeves. Certainly better than what they wore in the summer, anyway. 6/10

Augsburg third - After the success of last year's 'Römertrikot' Augsburg have used the same inspiration for this year's third kit; this time in black and gold rather than red. Expect this one to be just as popular. 8/10

Of course, they would have stayed up comfortably were it not for 11 game deciding refereeing mistakes, at least if you ask Thorsten Fischer

Bremen away - Looks moderately OK under green studio lighting. Will look awful anywhere else where the bright green details aren't so clear and the terrible sleeve and collar colour is revealed. Seriously, beige & neon green? Properly bad. 2/10

1860 third - I hate the offset, asymmetrical collar here and for me it spoils what would be a brilliant kit. Good use of the club colours green and yellow in a not too garish way. Think green shorts might be better than the cream shorts on sale. 6/10

Bayern third - Again the third/European shirt is the best in Bayern's collection this season. Can you imagine if they did subtle & classy designs like this on a red home shirt? The choice of green trim is a little odd and I would rather see the proper badge, but still a super shirt. 9/10
