There’s no way she’s the same role as Wuyang, and I would be astonished if they released another DPS next. So if Anran really is next, then it would seem she and Vendetta have swapped roles compared to expectations.

Fareeha voiced her in an animated short where Anran was revealed to have also received an OW invitation. Hard to imagine why they’d do that if the plan wasn’t for Fareeha to voice her in-game.

The last time we had a hero with a very tanky-seeming theme and abilities that everyone was surprised to learn was a DPS was Doomfist, and he turned out to be rather difficult to balance in that role and eventually became a tank.

I could have sworn hero 45 was confirmed to be a tank too, but I haven’t been able to find anything that says that. I think maybe people saw hints for ”giant sword hero” and just assumed tank?

Whereas the Blackwatch crew killing that Talon bigwig when they were supposed to capture him leaves a really specific opening for an Inigo-Montoya-type path, and it’s more powerful if they’re young when the guy dies. Sucks that it’s contextually cliche now for her to be young.

Kiriko and Juno have lore connections too, but their stories felt more like new things hooked onto existing lore. So I guess it feels like they had plenty of room to link into the lore with someone older.

I’m on board with the general exasperation at so many of the recent heroes being quite young, but this one feels a little less egregious just because of the direct lore connection to the Rialto mission? Not sure I can articulate why that makes a difference in my head.

I think he’s more grayscale than white. Like, that’s not a natural skintone at all, on either of them.
It looks like the only color on Reaper is the yellow, and the only color on Widow is red, everything else is shades of gray. Very selective use of color is a thing in film noir.

The draft with no mirrors was a more elegant design, trading off the better chance to get a specific hero with having less info to make the choice. But I think draft with mirrors is still better than the completely blind selection.

It really feels like something weird happened to my MMR/predicted rank. I was gonna keep playing until it leveled out, but I’m gonna run out of time. And maybe ranks? Not sure what’s at the top of the Legend 1 progress bar.

Update: I’m now in Legend 1, and I’m *still* gaining 220 or losing 60 every game. Decent WR since I was at an even 80 gain/loss in All Star 1 (~57% I think), but not nearly high enough that it makes sense for my predicted rank to have (seemingly) shot up so far.

Update: I’m now in Legend 1, and I’m *still* gaining 220 or losing 60 every game. Decent WR since I was at an even 80 gain/loss in All Star 1 (~57% I think), but not nearly high enough that it makes sense for my predicted rank to have (seemingly) shot up so far.
Yeah, as soon as I decided to let go of that mindset and accept my body at the size it was, I kinda stumbled into some dietary changes that ended up improving my chronic fatigue, and then I lost weight because I could be more active, and then nothing fit again.

Larger clothing can also be more easily taken in or refashioned for someone else to wear, which was common when cheap clothing didn’t really exist. Garments made for someone tiny is less likely to find re-use, so they survive longer.

Of the mythic weapons so far though, Kiriko’s looks to me like it’s gonna suit the highest percentage of her hero skins. Which is really saying something, considering how many there are.

I believe Soldier is still the only mythic weapon recipient who doesn’t also have a mythic hero skin. Rein got his weapon skin first IIRC, but he got the hero skin only a few seasons later.

Freja did get buffs, which definitely helps. But having a larger explosion radius isn’t increasing the accuracy of my predictive pre-fires onto flanking Tracers. Playing into more-predictable less-skilled Tracer players would though.

(I know Stadium is different, and players may have skills that get more value in Stadium than in the regular game. But I’m basically 1-tricking Freja, so it makes a *big* difference if the enemy Soldier/Cass/Tracer is masters or plat.)

I think my recent WR genuinely is quite a bit higher, but the games seem far easier. Before, I was regularly matching up against masters/GM players on my role, but now I’m seeing mostly gold/plat.

Before the patch, I was holding steady while earning far less per win than I lost per loss, so I had a pretty high WR. Afterwards, I held rank with equal gains and losses, so my WR must have been even. So how did my predicted rank go up so much?

Ever since, I’ve been getting 220 per win and losing 60 per loss and am sailing through Legend pretty quickly, so it seems my predicted rank is now much higher? IME 220 seems to be the max you can get from a game.

Eventually I did get promoted to Legend, a game earlier than I expected, because I got 125 for the promo match instead of the 80 points I had been getting. Fell back out during a loss streak, and then got promo’d back in a single win that granted me 220.

After the patch, I was still in All-Star 1 for like 15 games or so, and the win and loss amounts were equal (80 in both directions, up from ~60 for losses and 20-30 for wins). Since my rank was still holding, my WR must have been a little lower than pre-patch.
