The current effective rate of terrifs on Canadian cusma goods is 0%. Trump can destroy that at anytime he gets pissed off. Sometime in the future he will destroy it. Why would we want to move that time forward?

I don't think he believes he can get a deal. But the more time he buys for Canada the better off we'll be. He probably understands that Trump will kill cusma. The longer he can delay the inevitability the better off we'll be. That means sucking up to Trump.

I'm not sure there is any negotiating. Seems that we're just asking what they want and then doing it Increases the pressure to diversify out of the USA. We're not going to get any sort of fair deal from the USA.

I have lived that experience. I bought Solar Panels, Heat Pump and an EV. I am told by most people that you can't make a difference. That "experts/scientists" agree with them. My conclusion? Everyone is concerned about climate change. However people like excuses for them to not have to change.

Unfortunately it will only get worse. I left Xitter because every climate discussion had so many "it's called weather" type comments it became a real slog to find any worthwhile responses. Bluesky will eventually become the same...makes me sad.

You need to make more than $180k to bring the top 10%. Just a clarification that the chart is not talking about the billionaire class. To me it is more representative of the disappearing middle class. We have the well off and the struggling. Fewer "average Joes".

Carney's plan appears to be "suck up to Trump to get an extension of CUSMA". He won't get it. Trump loves to hurt everyone he can.
Difficult position. Walk away now? Wait for the inevitable? Suck up while preparing for the inevitable? Hope it's option 3.
