One of the biggest challenges in the modern information environment: learning to navigate between two different institutional SharePoint accounts.

One reason I love my job?

Because I get out-of-office replies like this:
"Thank you for your email. I am currently on Antarctic fieldwork so email responses will be delayed".

It was great to see that so many #students were curious about using their interest in #tech to make a #difference in the world and society by solving some of the biggest questions and helping people. And our #BetterSoftwareBetterResearch stickers were also very popular.

This time, the audience wasn’t researchers or #RSEs but #SixthForm #students. I spoke about #TechForGood, #research #careers in #software, and how #DigitalSkills can be used to solve real-world problems.

Continuing our promotion of “Better Software, Better Research”, I recently visited Xaverian College for their Post-18 Careers Event as part of my role at @uniofmanchester.bsky.social - @softwaresaved.bsky.social

Last year, we celebrated that 41% of the @softwaresaved.bsky.social #Fellows are #women, a percentage that grew to 46% in the 2023 cohort. This year, women made up 35% of applicants, but they excelled at every stage of the selection process. #InternationalWomensDay

In the last decade, #multilingual #training & global collabs have worked to #democratise access to #research #software. However, cultural & technical barriers persist.
