tl;dr It seems like Husk is projecting onto Angel not because HE wants/feels the need to get better, but because unlike Husk, Angel is someone who has "value" and "deserves" it. It's Husk's own shame spiral curling around to harm Angel in the guise of "helping" him. (2/2)
