FUNDRAISER UPDATE: powerbanks are at the frontline now!
November 20, 2025 at 3:01 PM
That made me chuckle:

Polish right wing publicist:

"Number of dogs in Poland is 8.5.million. number of children in Poland is 7.2 million. Polish women somehow got it all wrong".

Comment: POLISH WOMEN! STOP GIVING BIRTH TO DOGS!

I just had a plate of lovely pierogi. At 150 km/h.

And this is why train travel is superiour to any other mean of travel. :-)

(Together with coffee I paid about 11 euro).

I am on a train to my parents town now.

There is an octopus here that apparently wants to fight!

Now I am trying to book a train for tomorrow but the payment system is down. Or it just crashes randomly, I don't know. Both on koleo.pl and railways own website.

I am in Poland just a couple of hours and everything pisses me off! :-)

...done as cheaply as possible. And amongst this maze of rooms for rent there are still some odd flats that some people live in. Air BnB style acconodation is a cancer!

I paid 27 for this. Bedding is clean. Everything else - not so much.

...show it's original destination, even though it stops few stations before.

I was not taking too many pictures as there is a lot of military personnel on the station.

fun fact: sleeper trains are heated with coal burnig stoves, there is a smell on the station as if the steam engines were here.

Finally, after short walk we drove to the train station (traffic in Lviv is terrible!)

Train station is old, and trains look ancient but everytjing operates smoothly. There was a train to Kramatorsk. I am told it's impossible for it to reach it's destination safely, but the route boards still...

Some of the monuments are removed into safe storage too

Then we had a short walk around the old town. It's beautiful, but the realities of war are never far away. There are power generators at every second corner

The company is still around, they are operating in Poland and they are doing pretty decent whisky, I even happen to have a bottle at home
November 18, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Then it was a lunch time. We ended up randomly in the restaurant called Baczewski. Baczewski was a family of Polish people who in 18th century established a liquor and vodka factory in Lviv.

Then there was still some time so Stas took me to the city. We visited national museum of nature building, which used to be an institution established by my distant greatgreatgreatuncle or whatever, Włodzimierz Dzieduszycki.

So that's it for today, folks. My car is here, and so are your powerbanks. We did it!

Thank you everyone for helping me making this happen again!

So after spending all day at the Ukrainian border I ended up in Włodzimierz, a city where my grandmother was born when it was in Poland before the war, when my great grandmother, who was a teacher opposed Polish governments effort to forcibly polonize local Ukrainians and who was, in turn, saved...

Interesting cultural difference (?): there is no toilet paper in the cabins. There is one toilet paper dispenser as you enter the toilet block. So I guess you need to estimate how much you need before going in and take it with you into the actual cubicle.

But... I haven't had a stamp in my passport since two passports ago.

I missed that. It gives you that thrill of really being on a far away journey.

Last leg of the journey starts now. I have the goods with me :-)

I drove late into the night then pulled over for sleep. Slept really well but it's a chilly morning here in Lithuania

We are already on the move. Ferry left earlier, I guess everyone was already on board.

Incidentally it seems to be the same ferry I was on three years ago when I first came to Finland with my car that is now leaving the Finnish shores for good.
