A couple miles up a dirt road from my house is the US's oldest amateur telescope club. They have conventions every year, and those are fun to crash. I did go to an open house this summer. Members were haggling over who got to give us a tour. To become a member you have to make your own mirror.

So true! But, I do find painting gives me a break from the insanity. That and hanging out with my cat.
