So is there value in talking about #self-trust or is it already encompassed by other concepts? Current academic literature can't answer this. But #therapists already working with clients on these issues might hold the answers. I decided it was important to capture this practitioner knowledge...

The newer concept of self-compassion, key in #wellbeing and #therapy, brings a positive self-stance similar to conditions for trust - you need to believe someone cares about you and wants to do right by you to trust them- and that applies to trusting yourself. Does #self-trust sit somewhere between?

So why is there little research on the term #self-trust? Is it that it is explored using different words? We have longstanding concepts like self-esteem & self-efficacy which are strongly linked to #wellbeing. But do these evaluations of worth/competence really encompass what it means to FEEL trust?

The online wellness & #therapy space & popular books (e.g. #BreneBrown) tap into the idea of #selftrust. But there is very little academic psychological research using the term. Interesting work from #feminist philosophers explore the term and its relation to autonomy but mostly 20 years ago...
