Prefacing this with I'm ok, just sharing a poem I wrote that's (mostly) about anxiety.
Be where your feet are. Drive steel piles into the ground to keep your mind from wandering. You’ll never be there again. Repeat that to yourself until it's true There is a memory locked in a corner of your mind, A story unfinished that you're allowed to let go. You will not go there. That way lays hurt and sadness, Pain, anger, betrayal... —Though there was sweetness, And there was sun, Was any of it worth how you felt in between? Was any of it a reward for the time you spent with your head in your hands— palms digging into your eye sockets, nails into your skin? How you tore yourself apart each night, And every morning you stitched yourself back together. Be where your feet are. Hang lodestones around your neck to hold you there. Let the weight of gravity remind you of the present. Let the rain and wind on your skin keep your attention on what’s real. You must not let despair seep through the pipes and into your water. You must not give them more of yourself, Or there will be nothing left of you to stand on your own two feet. To stand in the real. To be where your feet are.
