We also collected 15 hatchlings to monitor their development and fitness until they can be released in the spring. This development data paired with all the incubation temperature data we collected will help us understand how changes to climate or habitat could impact #SpottedTurtle populations.

...#SpottedSalamanders were already breeding in them. We’ll be monitoring the property for Wood Turtles next spring and are very eager to see whether we can document them using the wetlands.

...the landowner recently signed a letter of intent to enroll the field into a conservation easement, will stop haying it, and allow the Natural Resources Conservation Service to restore the natural wetland habitat. Chippy will never cross paths with a tractor again.
