If placed as the Director of the BLM, he would have power over policies around the leasing of land to oil companies. It doesn't take much imagination to picture how that would pan out.

Pearce earned a 4% score from the League of Conservation Voters while serving in the House of Representatives. He also grew up in oil camps, has bought and sold oilfield service companies, and oil companies have been top funders throughout his career. So why does that make him dangerous?

Setting aside the fact he himself has posted videos illegally felling trees as part of a protest, Pearce openly supported Trump around the January 6th insurrection. He also blamed the Bureau of Land Management when anti-government militia members took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in '16

So what’s the solution?

Protecting healthy waterways that still provide cold clean water is a great starting place. For waterways that have been logged or degraded, active and passive restoration efforts will be needed.
