Immersion suits save lives—but only if they work. Thanks in part to a Northwest Oregon Works grant, 115 unsafe immersion suits were replaced at recent testing events—one dating back to 1985! Our new kit helps commercial fishers test their gear and better protect themselves. #seagrant

After 239 days and 6,300 miles at sea, a mini-boat built by Lincoln County high schoolers through the Oregon Coast STEM Hub made landfall on a remote atoll in Palau. It was recovered by a local team in impressive condition! Read about its journey here.

A newly discovered species of bacteria was found in Yaquina Bay mud! The microbes form filaments that carry electrical currents across sediment. The name Ca. Electrothrix yaqonensis was chosen with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians to honor the Yaqona people. bit.ly/4mhX7Jg
