The required pressure drop to classify a storm as a bomb cyclone at 45° latitude, is just under 24 millibars in 24 hours. The bigger the drop, the stronger the storm.
The latest GFS run shows a storm system approaching Tuesday, with a potential 24 hour pressure drop over 40 millibars.
