150 men and several women left the Communist headquarters in Portland in a hunger march to Salem. In Salem, they plan to make demands on the Legislature for unemployed insurance.

W.E. Mahoney is sworn in as Klamath Falls mayor. Mahoney won as a write-in candidate after legal disputes about his eligibility to run. His primary issue was electricity rates and municipal utility ownership.

An increase in speakeasies since the repeal of the state dry law caused Mayor JC Ten Brook to move to protect Astoria against the return of the saloon at a city council meeting. He charged the speakeasy owners as men without moral character or moral responsibility.

A mudslide at Sullivan Gulch shantytown damaged eight shacks and seriously injured Joe Belich. Belich was found with only his head sticking out of the mud. He was taken to St. Vincents hospital with broken ribs and internal injuries.

Bennett's vote blocks lower streetcar fares and railway's legal authority past midnight. Council erupts: "Don't impugn my honesty!" Company will operate "at sufferance of the city" until new permit. Nine-day limbo. Some worry jitneys could take over.
