I should have posted this yesterday for World AIDS Day but better late than never. This is Gary McGrath, I did my honours history thesis on the work he did to set up the world's first national needle exchange in NZ in the late 80s. Gary had been living in Melbourne prior to his diagnosis in 1984.

I needed some more respectable summer footwear for the office than my white rubber slides. Mission accomplished 🫡

Hi Secret Santa. I'm a big history nerd who loves flowers and living things and being surrounded colours (except red). I love doing my own nails and collect rocks and fun second hand ceramics, especially Petra/Christine Harris.

I have these light shades and they're still one of my favourite puchases I've ever made. (Not my photo)

I found a young chicken at the train station and picked it up because it was trying to take shelter under a bus and brought it home to keep it safe. Won't be too upset if I can't find it's home tbh. It's very very cute.

I can't go down this rabbithole right now but seemingly there was a moral panic in 1887 about the youth *checks notes* flying kites 😒

New fidgets. It just occurred to me they look a bit sex-toy-esque but they're not 😂😂. SFW I promise. These are so fun! They're magnets with the softest silicon covers.

The fucking state of it on the other site. Instant regret. I covered the faces, they're actually a very good likeness based on the photos in the press for the past few years. The idea that anyone fed them into an AI, today while they were missing, & entered a prompt asking for this picture. Ugh 🤢

Very relieved the kids have been found but wtf Stuff. This is a terrible way to format this sentence. My heart skipped a beat 😳

Things are hard but if you need a small happy, even the tiniest morsel of happy, allow me to present to you this jumping spider who is resting inside a daffodil I picked to adorn my toilet cistern.

From the archive today (1916). Dear lord.

That caption is the type of pure expression of human oddity that ChatGPT has all but stolen from us. Why is this a photo anyone thought would help sell a home though?

From the archive today. Not related to my research but I love this shot. Possibly taken sometime during the 1950s in the Wellington region. The back label simply reads: mirror making. Jobs that don't exist anymore *sigh*
