Little critters make a big difference! Grass isopods cling to the eelgrass and feed on little things in the water—in turn, they serve as prey, transferring nutrients up through the food web.

Oswald recently had a root canal and needed a crown. While it looks gold, it’s made of titanium and has a yellow metallic finish. Oswald is now recovering behind-the-scenes, and his caretakers report that he is doing well.

Following a close vote, Washed Ashore’s newest sculpture has a name: Udo! The blue-ringed octopus makes its debut at OCAq alongside the Washed Ashore exhibit on May 17.

Skinny turns 50 this June! She's our oldest harbor seal and probably the easiest to identify. She has wide eyes and silver-grey fur--look for her during your next visit!

Pupping season has begun on the Oregon Coast, with harbor seals leaving pups on shore as they look for food. If you see a pup, keep your distance! Mom will likely be back soon, but she won't return until the area is clear. Report hurt pups to the Marine Mammal Stranding Network at 1-866-767-6114.
