Childless mom to two golden retrievers, Stryker and Breaker. Wife of 40 years, 20 of which were as a USMC spouse. Live near Joshua Tree National Park, perfect for my photography. Will never ever vote for a Republican again.
We're on numbers 7 and 8, too! Got our first golden in 1982. First golden had an Irish setter sister, but goldens #2-8 have always had a golden brother (although there have been a year here or there where we only had one). Meet our current boys, Stryker (left, 4 1/2), and Breaker, 3 1/2.

I need help choosing 3 of these 5 photos to enter in an art contest. I think I know which 2 I want to enter, but not sure on the 3rd. All taken in Joshua Tree National Park. Titles: Brushing the Sky; Ruins and Radiance; Galactic Heartbeat; Celestial Sentinel, and Glow Over Boulders.

3:30 pm Not much smoke from the fire anymore. This photo, taken about 2 hours earlier, shows 3 helicopters (one of which is a very tiny dot above the red retardant) and one very large tanker, which is dropping the fire retardant. Last update was 164 acres burned. from my backyard. The hills are JTNP

Fire in Joshua Tree National Park today. So far, there are 2 helicopters dropping water. I'm sure numerous firetrucks are there or on their way. It started about 12:10 this afternoon. Initial assessment was 20 acres; don't know how big it is now.

Breaker is 3 years old today! We took a walk in the desert first thing, then came home and had a little party with a cupcake and presents. Happy birthday Breaker!

I went to a HandsOff protest in Joshua Tree today. San Bernardino is a red county in California. Great turnout, about 400 people. We had lots of cars honking and thumbs up as people drove by on the highway. Some of the signs and people I saw.
