Castro Valley, CA. Not born in 1974. Movies (mostly 30's through 80's), music (mostly 80's and current), etc.
I saw #TheArchers trending and I got excited. Then I realized it wasn't about Powell and Pressburger, and I was no longer excited.

Films newly added to Kanopy that I want to watch: Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Dinner at Eight (1933), And Then There Were None (1974), and Headhunters (2011).

If somebody sent me a free New York Times article, I certainly wouldn't view it as a "gift." It fits that word in the same way as somebody leaving a flaming bag of excrement on your front porch.

Good ol' Duolingo. Sometimes I know I've said something perfectly and their technology will refuse it, and sometimes I know I've botched the pronunciation but their technology will accept it. It's always telling when I've been told I'm wrong when I haven't even completed pronouncing the first word.

Country music is non-binary. That is to say that many of the art form's practitioners don't fit either of the rubrics outlined in this op-ed. They just want to make the music they love, and have loved for most of their lives. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/18/o...

Artists that I'm going to add to my playlist: Laura Thorn, Tommy Cash, Erika Vikman, Justyna Steczkowska, Abor & Tynna, and Sissal (Denmark should have received more votes). This is my last #eurovision post...for now.

Sweden was my pick and 4th place is a great showing, but I was extremely happy when I heard that Austria was awarded enough points to win! Estonia in 3rd is also great.

139 points for Poland! Fuck yeah! The audience has better taste than the "experts."

- I ranked Austria #3 and they were my top "serious" entry, so I'm fine with them being in the lead.

- Sweden and Estonia are my top 2 and they're both in the top 10, so I can't complain about that either.

- I guess I just liked Poland way more than the juries did, but that's OK.

I wouldn't have voted for Nemo last year, but I would have if they were a contestant and that was their performance this year. #eurovision

There have been some middling performances, making me think "this is your chance of a lifetime, that's all you got?" Then there's Sweden. #eurovision
