five days in the woods with some truly amazing people was exactly what we needed after a relapse & during a traumaversary 💕 not everything is better, but we're trying our best to take that positive momentum forward with us

Blue Skies & Pink Cheeks
A light-blue, mostly open sky (taking up 4/5ths of the frame), with a horizon of clouds that have a fluffy white topside & a cobalt underside (reflecting the waters of Lake Superior). Off in the distance is the ore dock, illuminated as the evening lights turn on, with Presque Isle behind it; you can also just barely make out the thin white line dividing water & sky that is the break-wall leading out to the lighthouse from Presque Isle. In the foreground is snow-covered rocks & plant life along the shore, right next to the walking path we're on. There are just a few small waves noticeable in the shot, much closer to shore in respect to the ore dock & park in the background. A selfie of us at sunset while out on a walk. A good couple of inches of snow is layered over the vegetation between my walking path & the road, and leading up to the housing developments beyond (the snow, some shrubbery/plane life, trees and house are in the bottom-left corner of the frame; as well as a road sign that divides the left half of frame into quarter slices). There's still a good amount of golden sunlight lingering in the open, blue sky behind us, and you can see a small rim of clouds on the horizon line just behind the treetops (taking up the top-left corner of the frame). We take up the right half of the frame - dressed well enough for the brisk 25°F walk, in our Volcom winter coat & Hard Times beanie (geometic chunks of neon orange/purple/green with high collar, and black with a monster boot logo & trans/pride pins). I'm mostly hiding in my coat/hood but you can see I've got my black, rectangular glasses on, a small stubble shadow & a cute lil smirk that raises just one of my cheeks - and those cheeks are nicely rose-colored from the wind. ☺️

2020 - 2024 🦋🌸

Transitioning saved our life
A selfie of us from 2020 (pre-egg-crack), standing outside our old brick apartment/work offices: we've got a scraggly neck beard & reverse-Chaplin mustache; our hair is just starting to grow out and is hidden underneath a tan, knitted beanie; we've got our old, almost-square glasses on, which basically cover our eyebrows; we're wearing a green & black baseball-style t-shirt with the word BEER spelled out like the LOVE sign in Philly (it has a clover in the R); and, though we're smiling with the top row of teeth, you can see the alcohol & weed in our eyes much more than any shred of happiness. A selfie of us from the end of Summer 2024 (haven't taken as many pics of ourselves since then): our dark brown hair is so much longer now, flowing down our shoulders in wavy streams; we've got thinner, rectangle frames for our glasses now so you can actually see our luscious brows as well as our gorgeous lashes, and our eyes finally have some life in them lol - crazy what nurturing your authentic self can do; around our neck is a necklace with a ghost pendant (their body is a simple white canvas with black, oval eyes & their head is a mushroom cap), that also has half of a magnetic heart piece (one of our partners has the other half on a similar necklace with a black ghost-shroom); we're wearing a Star Wars tank-top which features a storm trooper lounging on an inflatable pool bed; and we're sporting our patented one-sided smirk that has given us such a cute cheek dimple.

This photo is heavily focused on how the sunset's shimmering reflection cuts through the rippling waves of the lake near our house. The frame is divided horizontally by the dark shoreline/treeline once more, and the sun is about halfway set, so the light-bulb-esque bloom around it is bright yellow, while the rest of the sky is shading to a more muted orange/pink; there is also less blue to the lake's color gradient, as the sun's reflection ceeates a blaze-orange strip to vertically split the water into sheets of pink & green (caused by the yellow/blue mixture). This shot of the camera screen is also framed from further away that the others, so that you can see my camera strap dangling down towards my shoes in the lower third of the frame.
