Open air drug dealing and public drug use is not good for anyone. This is about dangerous drugs like fentanyl, not homelessness. Fentanyl usually ends in death. I don't want this for any of our residents.

So what should we do instead? We need to get people healthy by prioritizing safe shelters, drug treatment programs, and meaningful job placement opportunities.

My opponent always votes for encampments, putting neighborhoods at serious risks. In fact, he voted recently to keep this one open even though it was putting school children in danger.

I keep telling people that encampments should not exist. They usually end in violence and death. They are dangerous to neighbors and the people who live in them. In fact, it is usually the people in these encampments that get shot or die.

This is not a homelessness issue. Let's fix this before someone gets hurt. There are many people in Phillips and East Phillips who do not have a car.

What is the plan? We are putting our kids at risk! From experience, encampments are incredibly dangerous for everyone, especially our children. Encampments often lead to death.

We need to also work on public safety. My son and I were transferring to the blue line last night at US Bank Station with our bikes. There was a woman who was crying and wanted a car ride because she felt too unsafe to get on the train.

@jchavezmpls.bsky.social @taylr.bsky.social I've lived without a car before with my family (wife + 2 kids - 6 and 11 years old). In fact, we still take transit and bike everywhere. Honestly, it can be hard with a family, especially in the winter.

Then we can also protect the most precious and vulnerable: our children.

It is not normal for people to die within blocks of your house (sometimes on your street or in your back alley). It is not okay for your six-year old to see daily drug deals. We must get people the help they need and not tolerate criminal activity.

One of the main reasons I am running for city council is to make sure all kids are protected and can play outside in the neighborhood. The kids in our neighborhood have experienced more than they should.
