I make silly languages and write silly stories with them.

More silly made up languages. This time we're looking at the Laukunnya family and its descendent languages and dialects (who are without names until I get a bigger vocabulary to work with). Included some tables of sound changes (transcribed without IPA because this was typed fast on Google Docs).

I was in 5th grade and sick at my aunt's house. She handed me a heavy volume of Lord of the Rings (all of it, Fellowship through King) and I was hooked.

Except I only made it halfway through Fellowship... But then around 8th grade I picked it up again for a book report and never looked back.
I think I have reached enough followers to start asking questions (a lot of my research is about the reception of #Tolkien’s works, so I love asking about it)!

When did you first read anything by Tolkien (or watch/play/listen to an adaptation if that came first)?

Reskeet for more answers!

It's 11PM on a Saturday here in Italy so of course I'm toying with fake languages. Here are some sample sentences in Zemskian (not real) with some very lazy transcription and glossing. Zemskian is an OSV language that distinguishes between singular-paucal-plural and has contrastive vowel length.
