Is the rice rinsed to the point that the water is clear? I would rinse at 3 times. I would not stir it until it's done. And maybe add a bit more water. But think the water to rice ratio not quite right. Once you can determine that, it will work fine. Even cheapest cooker should work well for rice.

How much water are you using for one of the rices? And how much rice are you using? Are you gently stirring or vigorously stirring? Do you rinse the rice before you cook it? I've actually never stirred my rice until it is done cooking to fluff it up, but usually do not do that either.

What is wrong with the rice when you cook it?
