Sounds great! I think that there are several in Montreal every year. By the way, if ever you're interested in chatting about music composition or anything else about the industry, find me on discord. My handle is oragus2.

I live in Ottawa, so about two hours away from Montreal, but I'm working next week. MIGS would have been sweet. According to the program, there's plenty of audio and music presentations! You'll have a great time, and you're likely to network with musicians. Enjoy yourself! :)

Well, congratulations on establishing yourself into that exciting career! When I was a teenager, the idea of a "video game composer" didn't really exist, and I didn't have the guts to pursue composition professionally, so I became a music educator. Now, I'm trying to make up for lost time. :)

I feel privileged that you listened to the Shadow Maiden soundtrack. Thanks for you comment! I noticed that you were an established video game composer and that you provided the soundtracks to many digital boards games, is that right? And a fellow Canadian. :)

This concert is absolutely worth it. It came to Ottawa in January and it was by far the most interesting and original take on Nobuo Uematsu's music that I've seen performed by a symphonic orchestra.

Absolutely, anytime. Have fun with the music-making! :)

One last book that I might suggest, specifically for video game composers, is Winifred Phillips' A Composer's Guide to Game Music. It was the very first vgm book that I read and was foundational to my understanding of the work and career of a vgm composer. Also, a very interesting read.

The Cambridge Companion to Video Game Music was a very interesting read and introduced me to a whole lot of academic concepts used in the study of video game music. It's definitely for the scholar and the brave!

Then let me make you a final recommendation. I really enjoyed the book "Game Sound" by Karen Collins. It's often cited as the original academic video game music book. There's also a local connection: Karen is a university professor in my city.

Thanks, Anders! I have several packs on itch.io and I want to bring the chiptune ones over to the Unity Asset Store, but in the meantime, if you're curious, you can hear the other chiptune collections right here: oragus.itch.io

I didn't start it yet. It's seen through the lens of ludomusicology, a field of study in academia. I've read some books and essays from ludomusicology and it's actually quite interesting. I'm finishing Pixel Soundtracks (www.amazon.ca/Pixel-Soundt...), and that's a blast! I highly recommend it.
