If the rest of them fall into any catagory other than-White, Evangelical Christian, who thinks of The Bible as superseding modern science,- this is absolutely the future that awaits all of them if this regime continues its assault on education.

things and not only do you become a conservative media star, you also get to continue your learning like nothing ever happened

this feels like the final step, where you can write some pseudoscientific (or religious) nonsense and it gets precedence over science just because the overlord donald and

uphold the acdalemic standards, which is very important to me, and she was horribly mistreated because of both these reasons

previously, if you were a shit student you could go on a podcast, whine about it get some money out of the grift. now, you can write some of the most abhorrent and stupidest

these are the reasons why privately I was so triggered by this story

because it perfectly encapsulstes both the mistreatment of trans people and the disrespect towards academia in the us

I feel empathy towards the ta, not only because she was trans but also I see her as someone who was trying to

erasure of trans people from the public life and on the dismantling of academia

well, I agree. that part of the story shouldn't be ignored, but liberals will do that because they're cowards and they don't want to be seen supporting a trans person

but we shouldn't fight about what is more appalling in this story. our outrage should be multipolar, focused both on the attempted

that's why I'm saying that this type of an attack on a acadamic is not new, but it was never this blatant before (no doubt fuelled by the fact that the ta was trans). it's another step in the long process of destroying science in the us

I don't think you can separate these two things
December 25, 2025 at 10:49 AM
because science has been under constant attack from the conservative side for years at this point and the last few months have been catastrophic
December 25, 2025 at 10:46 AM
I've been invested in this topic (and how society interacts with science as a whole) for a few years now and it's honestly kinda annoying to see people disregard this part (I've also seen one person slandering other scientists, which I really don't know how that's helpful at all)
December 25, 2025 at 10:44 AM
but my main point is that it's still important to acknowledge the awful state that us science is in right now and how academics, no matter if they're a part of any minority or not, are in a really shitty situation, to put it lightly

to the media and create this whole ridiculous narrative (she knew that because the ta was trans and that would legitimise their concern in the conservative eyes), and samantha went with it

the cis instructor wasn't targeted because they needed to single out the trans ta for their narrative to work
December 25, 2025 at 10:38 AM
my point is that I don't think it was planned out since the beginning. I don't think she submitted the paper with the intention for the ta to lose her job, because it doesn't really make sense to target an unknown person

what I do think is that after she got a 0, her mother encouraged her to go
December 25, 2025 at 10:36 AM
I'm not ignoring that though. I've specifically said that they've used the fact the ta was trans for their advantage, because it wouldn't have been a story otherwise. I just don't think they've planned it since the beginning - it materialised after fulnecky has already gotten the 0

I'm ofc open to changing my mind if someone can explain their perspective clearly

you skipped the funniest part

what does that even mean? it's rough even for the almost non-existent trump's standards
