Point in fact - you cannot be a capitalist and care for vulnerable people. There is no profit to be made in social safety nets. I am kinda sick of people using “capitalism” as a stand in for “democratic values” when capitalism is wholly oligarchic in nature.

I mean basically everyone has been talking for the last decade and a half about the widening gap between cost of living and avg income, and hugely widening income inequality. Fascism takes root when capitalism starts to collapse by blaming the suffering on minorities rather than on capitalism.

Yea I realize I was being imprecise with my thoughts bc you're totally right, I think so many of his other actions just contextualize it as feeling like more of a gross extension of his selfishness but honestly I really appreciate the reminder that its ALWAYS worth supporting refusing to go to war.

You're right, but honestly I don't really care if he was 'valid,' I care that someone who wants to so thoroughly reap the gains that war has wrought is laughing at the people caught up in its horrors. You really think he had any issue with anyone but him getting drafted?

Sry I was unclear bc of trying to be concise, I wanted to communicate that I fully agree with your take but that I also think there's something particularly morally bankrupt abt someone so explicitly wanting to benefit from the brutality and exploitation of war without getting his hands dirty.

Exactly my point! I just doubt that Trump specifically was doing so because he doesn't want to be part of the war machine, he was doing so because he didn't want to have to leave his cushy life for awhile.
