One of my proudest achievements: Disguising a stand up routine as a tech talk at JSConf Iceland. It combines all the things I like: JS, technology, art, dumb jokes, music, video games and nordic countries

What if... doors were suddenly alive?
They relocate, even reproduce. Any door can vanish and reappear elsewhere. People get trapped in their bathrooms. Homes are built with redundant exits. Parents teach kids never to trust an opening. Something I've been working on recently

I joined Reversim conf's team this year, designed the website & built a gloriously over-engineered interactive Rube Goldberg-style toy inspired by The Incredible Machine, packed with software dev metaphors.
Link 👇 - try it out & lmk if you spot any bugs (figurative and/or literal)

Yesterday I did standup comedy for the first time ever. I covered DevOps, SQL, and how a chicken restaurant relates to that one time I broke production.
It was terrifying and nerve-racking and I can’t wait to do it again.

Huge thanks to the org @shairez.bsky.social + everyone who performed!

CSS has a new feature, "text-wrap: pretty" and if you're a paragraph reading this don't give in to the W3C's beauty standards you're beautiful just the way you are dangling orphans and all

If surgeons had dev tools:
mid-surgery, elbow deep in guts "This spleen is a mess. Who last touched this? git blame... oh. Of course. Me."

A few weeks ago at JS IL, I gathered the best (and worst) detectives to investigate a serious case: The death of a React app's performance🕵️‍♂️🔍
Batman, Agent Mulder, and Inspector Gadget all had their theories - some useful, some... bordering on conspiracy www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJG6...

I'm starting a new podcast where two people meet to bake pastries and talk about relationship issues. It's called "Mixed Feelings"

Most of the developers I work with these days have never known the solitude of playing Solitaire on a computer that doesn't even have an internet connection

Junior dev protip: Given a complicated task, don't be tempted to start with your comfort zone. Hedge the risk - focus on the unknown unknowns first. Assumptions and constraints change as you gather knowledge. This will make your time/effort assessments more accurate and prevent you from re-treading

Emma (6F): Mom, can I have ice cream?
Mom: No.
Emma: Dad, can I have ice cream?

Asking both parents is the OG two-factor authentication, and apparently, I’m just the backup token

My last skeet got me thinking: Are UUIDs unique across Marvel's multiverse? Let’s explore this mathematically, and spoiler: infinity makes things complicated 🤯 🧵 (1/7)

If a junior dev I'm mentoring has a question I often say "give me 20 mins and I'll be with you" I've found that most likely, by the time I get back to them they've had already found a solution. This provides clear boundaries, a safety net, space to think & a big confidence boost when they do succeed
