I listen to a lot of soundtracks and pre AI slop-music too these days. I'm even at that point where I've started to look for old CDs whenever I'm at a thrift store, because at least I know for certain that I can trust bands like Depeche Mode (for now), ABBA and Queen.

Oh, and Sharon's statement was... not great. "... it is a tool that we love" that's just the fastest way for me to never listen to anything they've made ever again.

It doesn't make sense to me either. At this point I feel like most people know what AI slop is, what it does for the environment, and where it gets its "inspiration" from. But yeah, a lot of people are really good at ignoring what's right in front of them, I guess💀

What's even more demoralizing is that right now, I can only think of one band (Faun, but I hope they're not the only ones) that has actually spoken up against AI slop. And I really wish more artists/bands would do the same, so we know what's worth listening to...

They're called Myrath, and are a Tunisian "blazing desert metal band" (in their own words).
I try not to think about them anymore, even if I'm still kinda upset about it all, because their music almost always cheered me up on a bad day but I just can't them any more. 🙃

A band I used to listen to AI generated a lyric video to their then newest single. The video premiered on a live stream, and I will never forget how hyped everyone watching was before the video started playing, and then how quiet the chat got as soon as we realized what they had done. (cont.)
