The best part about learning printing and finishing/bindery is having the skillset to make physical copies of any information. Craft and the written word are both forms of resistance in their own right. That gives me a little bit of hope anyway

You know what…maybe we should buy physical copies of books. Things are getting weird.

Love to see everyone's #portfolioday content today! Here's some more machinery, with some practice/process pages as well.

I typically draw in pencil and ink first, then scan the lineart into ibispaint and color it digitally. Most of my references are presses I work with for school.

This is one of my favorite older pieces. Around the time I drew this, I was first starting to tour printing plants as a part of my college program, and there was definitely a sense of awe there. The feeling hasn't really left since then lol

Here's an old drawing I made of my former school print lab. This one was mostly for practice with linework and perspective.

I'm still mostly reposting art from my Instagram page (trying to gradually move off of meta) but I will make new stuff eventually :)

I feel like physical media is more important than ever these days, not just because it's tangible and you can own it forever, but because there's so much charm and joy in it. It's so cool to think about where all my old printing and typography books came from and who might have used them

I may have a slight obsession with Linotype machines, and sketching with fineliners 🖤
