We could replace all of our complicated tax code with a 1% tax on every financial transaction and solve most of our problems.
1. Never have to file again, it’d be automatic
2. Rip power away from politicians since they won’t get to create loopholes for their rich friends
3. Fuck Over billionaires

We could be going to war over something useful, like ending reliance on fossil fuels. Greedy people don’t change until a righteous bully stands up to them, that could have been us. We’re going to bomb your rigs in 3 yrs, have another way to get energy by then. Instead we have a taco in charge.

I don’t think people understand that taxes should be invisible. It’s already silly we have to spend hours filing taxes when we could never even have to think of them again. That’s what a 1% tax on all financial transactions would accomplish.

When I get in charge, I’d immediately shut down all AI servers and tell the tech bros they can turn the farms back on as soon as their on renewable electric grids.

I get it, at first we had to tax what we could see. And what’s easier to see than to see how much land a person owns. So we started with property tax.
But that was literally hundreds of years ago. And now after adding one thing after each other, our tax code is convoluted as all get out.

In the 21st Century, with all this tech and automation, it’s stupid we still have to file taxes. To even have a system that requires it in any way is just silliness at this point.
