The world premiere of The Monkey King at @sfopera sure was fun. Definitely a spectacular piece of theater.

@sfopera will revive Zambello’s Ring Cycle in 2028. Eun Sun Kim conducts, Brian Mulligan is to sing Wotan, Tamara Wilson is Brünnhilde, and Simon O’Neill is Siegfried.

The orchestra sounded clear and beautiful in the final dress rehearsal of @sfopera.bsky.social ‘s Parsifal. Some great singing from Brian Mulligan as Amfortas and Brandon Jovanovich in the title role.

Teared up so much at @sfopera’s Idomeneo this evening. The orchestra sounded perfectly clear under Maestra Eun Sun Kim. Both soprano Ying Fang (Ilia) and soprano Elza van den Heever (Elettra) are incredible.

Impressed by The Pigeonkeeper at @operaparallele.bsky.social this evening. The orchestra sounds so full, the music has a color and atmosphere, and the singing was great.

San Francisco Symphony ounded absolutely beautiful tonight in Ravel‘s Ma Mère l‘Oye and Schoenberg‘s Erwartung. Soprano Mary Beth Williams is hale and hearty as The Woman, and ran on and off stage for ovations after singing basically 33 minutes nonstop.

Saw the fog in Saariaho‘s Innocence this time at San Francisco Opera tonight. It was pretty subtle and upstage near the end of the opera.

Found Saariaho’s Innocence at San Francisco Opera this evening quite gripping. The music, singing, and staging were all great.
