Graphs can be used to express traditional double-entry accounting in a natural way and can be extended also in the direction of consistent economic-network accounts (quadruple-entry). In a new piece I explore the why and how.

More than a decade ago I was speculating that social media will move past the stage of lurkers, likers and posters and into co-creation. Boy was I wrong 🤦

But the potential is still there.

How will the open web survive the onslaught of abuse by the AI bros?

Simple answer: It won't.

The first step was to lock down useful but compute intensive services like search, as the server was being hammered to death. 😧

The next step will be to put the entire Open Risk Manual behind a login. 😢

I propose the term "green chameleons" for companies adopting and abandoning sustainability commitments depending on the hour of the day.

A simple, generic and portable format for disseminating Input-Output data, inspired from the graph representation of Input-Output matrices, it allows for a flexible and unified description which can be serialized into csv or an sqlite database.

Access is free, a request by a human is required to combat spammers and bots 🤦

We didn't know that the Earth's ozone layer was a planetary boundary until chlorofluorocarbon chemistry deployed at scale made it so.

This pattern repeats again and again as both technology and our footprint increases.

Beyond piecemeal #sustainability solutions it calls for learning metapatterns.

The "timeline" interface on #bluesky and/or #mastodon is not particularly useful if you follow many infrequently posting accounts.

A simple way to (partially) solve this is to convert your follow lists into #opml and then import into your favorite #rss reader.

While #opensource is "eating the world", the vast financial services sector never got the message.

Yet there are pioneering initiatives worth mentioning.

A category page @ Open Risk Manual aims to catalog what's available.
