Channel for UK policymakers about the UK's new parking model, an Open Market, rolling out nationwide in 2025 (managed by RingGo Ltd, part of Arrive).

Why do we need an Open Market for parking? Because limited choice, costly tenders & outdated systems have held the sector back for too long. 🤔

An @lgiu-local-gov.bsky.social parking survey found that only 1 in 3 councils believe the tender model to select a single parking app is either cost or time-efficient 👎

Parking Industry research shows that 83% of parking app users want to use a single app across the UK. Once local authorities have adopted the tech, that’s exactly what the NPP will deliver- a simpler experience which enables drivers to use their preferred app wherever they park #parking #transport

If so, there is a solution coming - the National Parking Platform (NPP)! Designed to encourage innovation and competition between parking apps, it will improve driver experience and help save councils £££.

Is this how you feel every time you have to download a new app when you just want to park your car? Wish you could just use one preferred app wherever you park?

Is this how you feel when you park and you have to download another app? You’re not alone. Many of us would much rather to use our preferred app when we park instead of having to download a new app every time we park in a new local authority area.

Sometimes, having multiple parking apps on your phone, and trying to work out which app works in different town/cities across the UK can make you feel like this 😖
