We launched a project to create a hex map of UK wards, the aim to arrange 8,396 wards by local authority. At the end of last week we finally arranged the last hexagon; the map is now complete. Behold!

We've created a hex cartogram showing the number of NHS (or equivalent) dentists by constituency: constituencies.open-innovations.org/themes/healt...

Most NHS dentists: Cities of London and Westminster (36)

Fewest NHS dentists: Stoke-on-Trent South, South Northamptonshire, and South Norfolk (5)
A hex cartogram of UK constituencies coloured by the number of NHS (or Public Health Scotland, or Health Social Care Northern Ireland) dentists. The colour scale goes from 0 to 30+. Parts of central and north west London, Northern Ireland, and Scotland have more dentists per constituency. The Cities of London and Westminster have 36 NHS dentists, Glasgow North has 33, Belfast South and Mid Down has 31. Stoke-on-Trent South, South Northamptonshir, and South Norfolk only have 5 dentists.

A thought? - Central government doesn’t necessarily see the impact of decisions they make locally. Local govt can be directly accountable for their decisions. Get involved with our work with the Local Government Association and share examples or insight.

The layout has an open licence and individual LADs could be extracted easily.
