This is a Catholic school mentality, with systematic racism replacing sin You cannot *see* sin, but you're trusting the nuns to rap you on the knuckles with the ruler whenever they think sin is rearing its head.

Progressives have a deep inferiority complex, and have internalized failure as a worldview--allows them to perpetually be on the "right side of history".

She's a throwback to an unattainable, glamorous sort of sexuality that went out the window ten, twenty years ago. A lot of celebrities nowadays flaunt their sexuality, selling men the fantasy that they'll be able to touch them. Sweeney essentially says: *You will never touch me*.

Ultimately, “read the room” is acting as an extremely pointless sop to people’s feelings. That’s what got the Dems into this mess in the first place.

You’re not at war.

“Read the room” as a critique went out the window three years ago.

This has nothing to do with the accuracy and/or justice of the claims within the paper, of course, but after reading multiple papers/articles using this particular argument, it's difficult to understand where social justice ends and self-interest begins.

Whatever the benefits of intersectionality from a theoretical/analytical standpoint--and there are many!--it's interesting how, when used in the context of a paper/article, the conclusion is inevitably "enterprise X should be *centered* around the experiences of Black women".

I know what you're talking about here. I actually read this paper, and I've been trying to find it ever since. It was called an "accountability circle" or some bullshit.

As there was no political defense of CRT presented during the mass outrage, I can only assume that something about CRT made it politically toxic. Of course, thinking that its view of whiteness and white identity was the deciding factor is merely conjecture, but it seems like as good a guess as any.
November 26, 2024 at 1:58 PM
Rather than *scholarly* defenses, I read "Where was the vigorous defense of CRT when it was the GOP's fauxrage du jour" as speaking in re: *political* defenses.
November 26, 2024 at 1:56 PM
CRT's emphasis on the deconstruction of whiteness makes it politically toxic, even to those who are sympathetic to its ultimate goals.

This is what killed Boudin. He could run on the number of charges filed all he wanted, but he couldn't find it in him to file *one* hate crime charge during a spike in anti-Asian crimes.

GOP mayors and prosecutors are more adept at making *examples* of certain individuals to at least give the public the feeling that they're being protected.

The social progress in re: trans rights has been extremely minor e.g a few athletes, badgering people in re: pronouns. At progressing trans rights, these things have proven largely insignificant. At irritating and alienating normies, they’ve been wildly successful.

The Democrats repeatedly brought up how Trump and MAGA were nazis. No one was impressed at the time, and I doubt anyone will be impressed in the future.
