My question was moreso: you said the O's made "nice picks," but you didn't like them given how big the bonus pool is. So is your point that the team should have changed strategy b/c they're wimps in other respects? My opinion is that it should be the other way around: be more aggressive elsewhere.

Aren't you conflating the team's approach to the draft and the team's approach to everything else? Elias's conservatism is undoubtedly frustrating. It's not all that frustrating to me in the context of the draft, though.

We have 7 semi-healthy starters and not a single one of them could get a whiff if their life depended on it. Has to be the worst group of starters in MLB in terms of ability to miss bats. I don't know why Elias thought that was desirable.

There's no overstating how valuable Ced has been to the Orioles since 2021. Elite defense and an average to above average bat is not a common CF combo in MLB. Lucky to have him.

Changeup looks nasty. If he can keep the BB% down he might be able to stay up for a bit.
