My local comic store allows regulars to get slightly early access to Wednesday's new comics on Tuesday and I was able to get this alongside some of my regular purchases from Marvel and DC and the like. It's a fascinating read about Crumb's own experiences with paranoia during the pandemic.

They also reference Hercules Mulligan's acts of beastiality in Aaron Burr, Sir with the line "lock up your daughters and horses." LMM had a musical about a despicable group of imperialist rapist slavers and decided the most immoral act among them was when Alexander was unfaithful to his wife.

Alexander Hamilton was a white man "son of a Whore and a Scotsman" in Saint Kitts and Nevis, a small Caribbean nation. He also owned a slave at one point; his mother passed and her one slave went to him. (/srs)

The show doesn't even have historical blinders in the final production!!!! They casually reference Thomas Jefferson's teenage slave mistress like she was his friend or some shit!! LMM is stupid!!!!!!!!

This is especially true when LMM writes Alexander Hamilton like a shonen anime protagonist and not an imperialist politician who fought in a war. To me though, the most egregious part of the show is in the song What Did I Miss, where they just casually name drop Sally Hemmings like it's nothing.

Having the founding fathers be portrayed as people of color with musical styles predominantly created by black people, while either trivializing or outright ignoring the fact that almost all of them owned black folks as slaves, is an extremely insidious concept.

To me, Hamilton is a terrible idea done flawlessly. While I think LMM's lyricism in the rap numbers is extremely weak, everything else about the show is done extremely well from the standpoint of production and writing. The problem is that it's a racist idea and is the most shitlib musical ever
