Snark aside, I have been to Time Out Markets in a few other cities and they are pretty great.

I just found out about @bccla.bsky.social through bccla.org/2025/09/reve... - I have donated and will send real letters this weekend. Multiculturalism is special. I fondly remember being told “you can call Canada home, we are multicultural” by a stranger at a party a year after I moved here!

Also gutted for my 15 year old and wife and friends who wouldn’t/couldn’t go to the show last year and were really looking forward to the gig!

I went to see them in a dive venue in Vancouver in March last year, it was an amazing show and there were no terrorist incidents afterwards! I can take or leave their recorded music but they are making some serious statements under the messing. I’m disappointed in Canada today!

Hooray for late stage capitalism and creating shareholder value!

The same neglect of maintenance and tech debt in favour of new features and products also happens for internal non foss work at all large corporations, to varying degrees. At least in my experience having worked on various types of infrastructure for over two decades.

As an aside, I love the “‘ole movie factory”; I haven’t heard it before but it very much reminds me of friends who work for a fruit company or saying I work for a bookshop.

I guess it’s a monument to what you and the others built decades ago. Your foresight, bravery, vision etc ultimately led to a community which has stood the test of time and now is verifiable source reference material for the Wikipedia article on breakfast rolls.
