Mostly just want to highlight how nice and pretty this panel looks due to use of craftint. I haven't really noticed it before, but it's used heavily in this storyline and makes for one of the best-looking arcs in the series.

Honestly, I have no idea. The strip ended at this point and it wasn't followed up on.

Technically, the horse racing is all confined to one arc. There's also dog racing in another arc and a gladiatorial racing with wacky animals in another arc.

All I'll say is thanks for all your work! Hopefully Fantagraphics reprints some of the volumes again so more people can check them out, especially the elusive Vol. 10.

This sequence does have a lot of great moments, such as Pete trying to revive Mickey, who is clearly awake and is playing along for fun.
